I don’t think anybody in my life would describe me as a good writer. I never liked English class during public school. I failed my freshman COM 122 class twice. However, I now find myself drawn to write for a variety of reasons. Among those are:
- The desire to improve an essential skill (communicating my own thoughts)
- The concern that AI chatbots will destroy my critical thinking skills
- I’m looking for a new hobby that allows me some form of creative outlet
I’m very much a goal-oriented type of person. Therefore, I’m going to set the goal to publish one piece of writing a week for the rest of this year. I have some ideas for topics I want to cover, but I don’t expect this series of articles to form anything resembling a cohesive work. I also don’t expect the writing itself to resemble anything of quality, although I do hope it will increase over time.
This post is essentially a primer, so I’ll keep it short. I’d like to shoot for articles somewhere in the 500-700 word area. We’ll see how that goes. And although I’ll primarily be writing non-fiction opinions, I hope to sprinkle in a few fictional short stories every now and then.
Posts will be made every Thursday by midnight and the first article I’m going to write will cover apathy. So here we go!
